Acknowledgement (Ack)

Acknowledging an alert is the act of a responder confirming they've seen an incident and are working on it.

An acknowledgement stops further escalation and silences reminder notifications — the signal that the alert is being handled. If no one acknowledges within a set time, escalation moves to the next responder.
